Clearfield Tolerant Hybrid Canola

Hyola® CL

With a long history in the market and across crop types and rotations, CL herbicide technology offers a combination of knockdown and residual weed control. Much of the value of CL canola hybrids now lies in its ability to follow other CL tolerant crops without the residue risk to seedling health and its relatively short withholding period in mixed cropping and grazing operations.

To help you determine the right fit for each herbicide tolerance group, we have attributed ratings out of 9 across a number of key criteria for each of the groups available in the Hyola® CL hybrid canola range as part of Pacific Seeds technical information on our Innovative product range.

Clearfield Technology provides single pass higher levels of knockdown power combined with in crop residual activity, higher yield potential with early weed control and significant weed seed reduction with Intervix herbicide. Pacific Seeds offers both Spring and Winter CL types in the Hyola® hybrid canola range for growers so that both Graze n Grain dual purpose diversity can be implemented across mixed cropping enterpises.

Hyola® 575CL

Hyola® 575CL has shown to be one of the most adapted and popular clearfield tolerant hybrids across the 1t/ha to 2.5t/ha environments around Southern Australia.

Hyola® 575CL has shown multi-seasonal adaptation over many years across Australia with a very high inherent blackleg protection rating and good oil content to provide growers with a complete agronomic package.

Hyola® 970CL

Hyola® 970CL has shown to the most adapted and popular Clearfield Graze n Grain hybrid across the 2.5t/ha to 6.5t/ha higher rainfall environments around Southern Australia.

Hyola® 970CL has privided growers with up to $400/ha grazing value combined with $2500/ha grain value.

Hyola® 970CL has shown impressive graze n grain returns for both Spring and Autumn sowings with a very unique inherent blackleg group "H" along with an "R" protection rating and good oil content to provide growers with a complete agronomic package.

Tasmanian farmer Michael Nichols harvested his 8.5 hectare crop of Hyola® 970CL canola on January 11, 2016, which yielded 52.52 tonnes. This is an Australian canola yield record of 6.17 tonnes per hectare. (see windrowing video clip on this page)

CSIRO’s Dr John Kirkegaard states: “We have demonstrated that from March-April sowings, Winter canola can produce 2.5 to 4.0t/ha of high quality forage for grazing in winter, which is readily eaten by sheep, and that good live-weight gain can be achieved (210g to 300g/day for Merino lambs).

600-800 DSE grazing days/ha were achieved in most cases. We have been able to achieve up to 2000 grazing days with early sown winter types, and that is their great advantage over spring types sown in their normal window.”
